The BI workshop encourages participants to see themselves as potential proactive bystanders who could intervene and stop sexual assault before it happens. This year, we will offer 70+ sexual prevention workshops to over 1600 students. Starting in Fall 2018, all year 1 students who complete the workshop will be given a $50 gift card for the University Bookstore and a Certificate of Completion that students can add to their resumé.
At the University of Windsor, sexual assault prevention and the preparation of Bringing in the Bystander® workshop leaders are integrated into the undergraduate curriculum. All workshop leaders must take the two BI courses – Practical Strategies for Social Change and Practicum in Social Change – which provide the knowledge and skills needed to successfully facilitate BITB® workshops. Half of the seats in both courses are reserved for men. All students are welcome to apply.
If you don’t have the space in your schedule to take the BI courses, don’t worry, there are other ways to get involved! Come see what the BI Special Projects group is up to.
This group is an informal hub for student-led initiatives to raise awareness and develop positive bystander skills across campus. You don’t need any special training or background to participate: all students, all backgrounds, all genders and all levels of study welcome. Bring an idea or come help out with an existing project.
